Vineyard manager, Charlie Hargrave knows this area and its climate backwards, forwards and upside down.
He knows what a change in the weather means to fruit growing at any particular location, at any given point in its development— and he knows needs to be done to balance the effect.
For example, on the slope known as Sandy Hill, the grapes are more subject to drought. This area, however, also produces grapes where the sugars remain higher and more concentrated, ultimately, producing the ideal grapes for Peconic Bay’s Chardonnay.
